When Life Hands You Bananas

custrawbanana

With a steady stream of delicious meals made by great friends, this girl’s baking days have taken a backseat to bottle-warming. Aside from reheating leftovers or making the occasional PB&J, the kitchen is merely another room to sway back and forth in while Hudson decides when/if sleep will come. Today, however, the babe (and Ryan) gave me a free hour, so I took advantage trying a new recipe found on Pinterest for strawberry banana bread. As far as baked goods go, it’s on the healthy side, so feel free to... Read The Rest →

On the Nightstand

books

Operating Instructions: Just cracked the cover, but already relate to her quirky and candid observations on becoming a mother. Heaven is Here: Written by one of the mommy-blogging pioneers, it’s a quick read, but heavy on exposition. You Lost Me: Super relevant. The subtitle sums it up: “Why Young Christians Are Leaving Church…and Rethinking Faith.” Eat Sleep Poop: Our baby Bible. Common sense answers to questions like: Green poop? To vaccinate or not to vaccinate? Is ____ normal? It’s a parenting cheat sheet. Highly recommend!

They Don’t Love You Like I Love You

Most days, when I’m not doing laundry, changing diapers, or trying to squeeze in a shower, I just lie next to you in our comfy bed while you sleep. I watch your chest rise and fall, rise and fall, rise and fall. Still breathing. You furrow your brows, stretch out a wrinkled arm, then smile and relax. I wonder what kind of dreams such a new life can have. Dreams of heaven maybe. I can’t describe what your existence has done to us, but feels a bit like every dream... Read The Rest →

How To: Handmade Photo Coasters

One of our favorite couples just tied the knot. Dropped anchor. Got hitched. To conclude, they’re married. Normally, I don’t venture too far outside of a registry. However, everyone else beat us to it! Instead, we picked out some great locally-made wine bottles turned glasses, but wanted something a little more thoughtful in addition, so now they have coasters for their glasses. If you’re in the market for a handmade gift, just know I’m not much of a crafter if sewing’s not involved, so surely anyone can do this. What... Read The Rest →

Wednesday Morning

Today, Ryan gets up at 6:30. I hear his alarm, but I have no intention of waking. I roll over and let it fade into the back of my consciousness. I barely feel his lips brush my forehead, but it makes me smile. He sits there for a moment, then sets off down the hall to get ready for work. My face hasn’t seen a lick of makeup in 48 hours, my nose is rubbed raw from a steady barrage of tissues – a futile attempt at combating seasonal allergies,... Read The Rest →

Petit Joy

I normally don’t talk much about marketing/PR, mainly because it’s for physicians, and who wants to hear about boring corporate-y stuff? However, a friend recently asked if I’d create a fresh new blog site for her. She has great style, so I knew it’d be a welcome break from doctor land. To start, Shelly sent me a few blogs she liked: And a few images for inspiration: Combining her love of modern/geometric with Anthro/French resulted in the following logo/header: After that, came the website. Her existing blog was created by... Read The Rest →
